Extra Extra: NYC’s expensive sushi restaurants slow their roll

It’s Wednesday afternoon in New York City where we might be over our expensive sushi phase.

There was a time when your $400 per person sushi date made you feel like a star, one of the lucky few who gained access to an elite sushi restaurant where only a handful of diners were allowed each evening. But with more pricey sushi options on the scene, those days are over, and many of those omakase places are thinking about their next move.

Here’s what else is happening:

• The Concorde, a supersonic jet that set a speed record, will be taking a field trip to get a paint job after a decade and a half on display at the Intrepid Museum.
• By now, you’ve probably heard about Zoom requiring its employees to return to the office, despite leading the pandemic-fueled work from home movement. But the company is also facing more criticism for seemingly using users’ data to train AI.
• A Disneyland security dog is accused of attacking an 81-year-old man who was entering the California park, according to a recently filed lawsuit.
• Apple will have some big changes for iPhone users with its iOS 17 update, including where on the screen the the “end call” button is.
• Rumor has it that Starbucks’ pumpkin spice offerings will start on August 24, but I refuse to partake in any of those fall-related activities until after Labor Day.
• A public health library in Long Island City which houses the latest scientific research on important, relevant topics ( pandemic preparedness, for one), was forced to close due to budget cuts, the Daily News reported.
• McDonald’s released a new McFlurry flavor today — Peanut Butter Crunch — which you can hopefully try if your local McFlurry machine isn’t broken.
