Destiny USA bolsters safety heading into back-to-school shopping season with license plate reading cameras

Destiny USA, in collaboration with the Syracuse Police Department and Flock Safety, a crime-solving tech firm, has amplified its security measures by installing license plate reading cameras at all vehicle entrances.

These cameras, designed to identify the make, model, color, and license plate of vehicles, aim to bolster law enforcementโ€™s real-time data capabilities.

Stephen J. Congel, CEO of Pyramid Management Group, expressed the mallโ€™s commitment to ensuring community safety and supporting law enforcement efforts.

The decision likely follows a series of violent incidents at the mall, including a shooting just two months prior. While these cameras aid in identifying vehicles involved in criminal activity, they do not enforce traffic regulations nor capture images of vehicle occupants.

The Flock Safety system, already in use at over 40 national shopping centers and by numerous law enforcement agencies, has seen success in the Pyramid-owned Walden Galleria in Buffalo, aiding in both crime prevention and community safety.
