WHITE PLAINS – A New Castle, Delaware man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in New York State prison for the 2021 murder of a 22-year-old Wilmington, Delaware man while in Yonkers.
Westchester District Attorney Miriam Rocah said Eric Williams, 24, was convicted of murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the execution-style killing of Jabree West.
On June 20, 2021, at about 4:30 in the morning, Williams, who had a personal conflict with West, used a 9mm semi-automatic pistol to shoot him once in the back of the head while he was sleeping on the stoop of a residential building.
During the investigation, police recovered surveillance video of Williams walking back and forth in front of building where West was sleeping, appearing to rack the slide of his gun. Then Williams walked off camera and a gunshot was heard about a minute later.
Williams was then seen quickly walking away from the crime scene.
Other surveillance footage captured Williams walking around Yonkers for hours before being picked up and driven back to Delaware.
Police also recovered the victim’s cell phone, which contained several videos and photographs of the two men together during their trip to New York from Delaware.
Using digital forensics, police located and arrested Williams as he was leaving his father’s home in Staten Island on December 19, 2021. At the time of his arrest, Williams made several admissions.
The murder weapon was never recovered.
