Manhattan commuters experienced a close call Monday night when a construction boom fell on the bus they were riding in, sending several people to the hospital with injuries, though none of them appeared fatal, according to police.

An M6 bus was on Madison Avenue and East 48th Street around 8:30 p.m. Monday when the arm of a construction boom hit the top of the bus, police said. Several windows were shattered, sending glass into the bus.

Cops said five people were injured, including the 56-year-old bus driver, who complained of pain and scrapes and was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

The 52-year-old boom operator also complained of back pain and was taken to Bellevue in stable condition, according to police.

Of the three passengers injured, a 27-year-old woman was taken to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition. Another 27-year-old woman, along with a 20-year-old woman, were taken to Bellevue in stable condition.

The fire department reported three additional injuries but did not have updates on the conditions of the victims.

The bus remained at the scene after the accident. Police said there is no criminality suspected, and are still investigating the cause of the collision.

This is a developing story and has been updated with additional information.
