ATLANTA — What else is there to say at this point.
One day after Aaron Judge called out his teammates, saying those around him in the clubhouse need to start showing up, the Yankees put together their latest lifeless and laughable performance.
The Yankees had just four scattered singles in their 2-0 loss to the Braves on Wednesday night. They were hitless with runners in scoring position and struck out 13 times.

It’s the Yankees’ fifth loss in a row, pushing their record to 60-61, the first time this team has been below .500 since May 1, 2021.
They’ve performed like a sub-.500 team for much of this season, but now it’s official.
A nine-game road trip that originally presented the Yankees with an opportunity to climb back in the standings seemingly ended their season. This club lost two of three to the lowly White Sox, they blew a series win against the Marlins with their worst loss of the season and got absolutely manhandled by the Braves in a three-game sweep.
Once again, like clockwork, the offense was the Yankees’ fatal flaw. It’s been that way throughout this past week, throughout this summer and for much of these last few seasons.
A team once synonymous with crooked numbers, unstoppable rallies and winning streaks is now associated with mediocrity, plain and simple.
With 41 games to play and a 6 1/2 -game deficit in the Wild Card race, the Yankees aren’t mathematically out of it, but it sure seems like they’ll be missing the playoffs this year. The Yankees will need to go 30-11 the rest of the way to finish with 90 wins, the supposed benchmark to secure the third and final Wild Card spot.
