STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths is extending an invitation to the community for their upcoming Back to School event, which will take place on Sunday on the North Shore waterfront.
The Back to School event is the first of a series of events, hosted by H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths, happening at the North Shore Esplanade in an effort to embrace the waterfront.
The event will be take place this Sunday, Aug. 20 from noon to 3 p.m.
Attendees can delight in fresh lemonade, chalk drawings, murals, face painting and more. Additionally, there will be a giveaway of several hundred backpacks, school supplies, as well as an assortment of fruits and vegetables, including fresh clementines for the community.
โWeโre going to have a visioning board, so people can tell us what they want to see on the esplanade,โ Heather Butts, co-founder and executive director of H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths, said.
There will also be a DJ on site, curating tunes using solar power instead of a generator.
โWeโre looking forward to a very exciting event,โ Butts added.
H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths is partnering with Staten Island Therapeutic Gardens and local organizer Veronica Gambon to bring this event to life.

North Shore Esplanade clean up / Future events
H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths has a series of events lined up — set to take place on the North Shore Esplanade — inviting the community to embrace and breathe new life into the once deteriorated and abandoned landscape.
โThe Back to School event is our first activation event. We are activating the North Shore Esplanade and we are working with Partnerships for Parks to do that,โ Butts said.
