A driver crashed into seven pedestrians in a Midtown crosswalk Sunday night, left the scene and was arrested after getting into a second crash in Queens, police said.
Police said the driver, a 29-year-old woman, may have been intoxicated but cautioned that the investigation is ongoing.
Six of the pedestrians were taken to hospitals and are in stable condition, according to the NYPD. The seventh refused medical attention.
The chaos began at West 36th Street and Sixth Avenue when the driver allegedly blew a red light in her Honda Accord around 11:53 p.m. and plowed into the pedestrians in the crosswalk.
Police said the driver continued east into the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. She then crashed into two other vehicles near Fresh Meadows on the Long Island Expressway. No one was injured in that crash, but the Honda was disabled and the driver was taken into custody and sent to a hospital for evaluation, police said.
Police have not yet released the name of the driver.
