ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Aaron Gray’s 3-pointer from the left corner with 12 seconds to play as the shot clock expired put an end to Siena men’s basketball season.
The fourth-seeded Saints suffered their sixth straight loss on Thursday, a 71-65 defeat to No. 5 Niagara in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference quarterfinals at Boardwalk Hall.Â
Niagara led 66-65 before Gray made his big shot for a four-point lead. Siena’s Javian McCollum (24 points) missed a 3-pointer and Joe Kasperzyk made two free throws for the final margin.
Siena finishes the season at 17-15 while Niagara moves on to a Friday semifinal matchup with No. 1 Iona.
Niagara took the lead for good with an 8-0 run for a 59-52 lead after McCollum gave Siena its only lead of the half with a 3-pointer.
