After a sloppy performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Buffalo Bills starting offense came ready to play in their preseason finale.
Josh Allen made Josh Allen type throws, James Cook looked good on the ground, Stefon Diggs made a few key grabs and Damien Harris, in his preseason debut, punched the ball in for a score. The offensive line held up well on the drive and, best of all, the team did not take any penalties. That drive was all she wrote for Allen and Diggs in the preseason.
While Buffalo had plenty of positives on Saturday, there are still some concerns following their 24-21 win over the Bears. Who helped their case on Saturday and who saw their stock drop? Here’s a look at how the Bills fared against Chicago.
STOCK UP
Christian Benford: It appears to be a two man race for the No. 2 cornerback job between Dane Jackson and Christian Benford. After seeing Jackson start the first two preseason games, Benford was given an opportunity to start opposite Tre’Davious White. On the opening drive, Benford went step for step with DJ Moore on 3rd and 10 forcing an incompletion. He later added a tackle at the line of scrimmage against Justin Fields.
It was an excellent audition for Benford in the competition for CB2. Regardless of the outcome, Benford and Jackson both seem capable of handling the job.
Quintin Morris: Quinton Morris was excellent at training camp for the Bills. He had a quiet preseason entering today’s game, but responded with a 29-yard touchdown grab from Kyle Allen in the first half. Buffalo is expected to run plenty of two tight end sets this season so Morris could find his way onto the field when Dawson Knox or Dalton Kincaid need a spell.
Damien Harris: After missing time with knee soreness, Damien Harris received plenty of work in the Bills’ preseason finale.
