Buffalo Bills RB had to catch commercial flight to rip off crazy run vs. former team

Although spectacular, Darrynton Evans’ trip to the end zone was not nearly as impressive as his trip to Chicago for the team’s preseason finale.

The Buffalo Bills running back had the run of the game, taking a carry 35 yards to pay dirt against the Chicago Bears on Saturday in the team’s 24-21 win. After taking the handoff from backup Kyle Allen, Evans eluded a few defenders and broke at least three tackles on his way into the end zone.

Post-game, Evans revealed that the touchdown run almost never happened.

For whatever reason, Evans was not on the team’s flight to Chicago yesterday. He shared how he almost had to drive to Chicago for the game before finding a commercial flight.

“Crazy story about this weekend,” Evans shared on social media. “Almost had to drive to Chicago to make this game due to flight issues. Luckily enough was able to take a commercial flight from Buffalo to Chicago just in time for this game. Wouldn’t miss it for nothing.”

In the message on X, formerly known as Twitter, Evans shared photos from the airport. He had also written on the site yesterday that it was “Gonna be a longgg day.”

Evans made it to the game on time and finished with a game leading 65 yards on nine carries (7.2 YPC) against his former team. After the victory, Evans admitted how good it felt to perform well against Chicago.

“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel good coming back to Soldier Field and putting on a show,” Evans added.

Evans is not expected to be on the Bills’ 53-man roster with James Cook, Damien Harris and Latavius Murray at the top of the team’s depth chart, but his performance on Saturday could have been enough to land him a spot on the practice squad.
