2 people injured in Verrazzano Bridge accident, says FDNY

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two people were injured in a motor vehicle accident on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, creating traffic delays into Brooklyn Saturday evening.

The city Fire Department received a call at 6:16 p.m. of an accident on the Belt Parkway and Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, an FDNY spokesperson said.

Two people were were transported with injuries to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, the spokesperson said.

Traffic could be seen backed up on the Staten Island Expressway east-bound going towards the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge following the accident.

Surrounding service and main roads were also backed up with cars headed in the direction of the bridge.
