The New York Mets (60-71) snapped a four-game skid and salvaged the final game of the three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels (63-68) with a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field.
After Pete Alonso plated the tying run with a two-out eighth-inning double, Rafael Ortega smoked a walk-off single to right field, giving the Mets a much-needed win.
David Peterson bounced back from his last outing with seven innings of one-run ball while striking out a season-high eight batters.
Francisco Alvarez also contributed with a run-scoring single.
The Mets will continue their homestand Monday when they begin a three-game series with the Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m.
