The Buffalo Bills had a few hard decisions to make before final cuts on Tuesday to get their roster down to 53 players.
The team put All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller on the Reserve/PUP list, which will force him to miss the first four games of the season at least as he continues to work back from last yearโs torn ACL. The Bills also pulled off a trade before the cut deadline, sending former second-round pick Boogie Basham to the New York Giants.
Here is a look at the initial 53-man roster. Below the list, youโll find five of my initial thoughts on the decisions made by general manager Brandon Beane.

Smart to deal Basham?
It was another ho-hum summer from second-round picks Basham and A.J. Epenesa. The former has two years remaining on his rookie contract and was likely more attractive to prospective trade partners. The 25-year-old finished the preseason with two sacks but would likely struggle to crack the lineup once Miller returns from PUP later this season.
