Budweiser Clydesdale to make an appearance at Baldwinsville Tops

Baldwinsville, N.Y. — The Budweiser Clydesdales are making an appearance in Baldwinsville for the second time this year.

One of the Clydesdales will be at the Tops Friendly Market, 2265 Downer St., this Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

The visit will mark the 13th year of Anheuser-Busch’s partnership with the Folds of Honor scholarship program, which offers educational opportunities to families of fallen or disabled U.S. service members and first responders.

People will be able to get a photo with the Clydesdale and donate to the local Folds of Honor chapter.

Anheuser-Busch has a brewery off Route 31 in the Radisson business park near Baldwinsville. The Clydesdales last came to Baldwinsville in June for the brewery’s 40th anniversary.

That brewery is one of 12 operated by Anheuser-Busch InBev in the United States. It opened in 1976 as a Schlitz brewery. Anheuser-Busch bought it in the early 1980s, and after a brief shutdown for renovations, reopened it in 1983.

In 2008, Anheuser-Busch was taken over by InBev, a Belgium-based global beer conglomerate, creating the new company, Anheuser-Busch InBev. It is the largest beer company in the world. The company has roughly 600 employees in the Baldwinsville brewery.

The Baldwinsville brewery makes about 75 different beverages, totaling around 6 million barrels per year (the equivalent of 82 million cases). It is larger than the next two big New York state breweries, Genesee in Rochester and F.X. Matt (Saranac) in Utica.
