Clifton Springs Hospital unveils expanded, state-of-the-art emergency department

Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic (CSHC), under Rochester Regional Health (RRH), unveiled its state-of-the-art Rob and Pamela Sands Emergency Department in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by RRH leaders, donors, and community members on Wednesday.

The renovated department, set to start admitting patients on September 6, is designed to better accommodate the growing number of patients in the Finger Lakes region, with expanded facilities that more than double the current space. The improvement includes more beds, triage areas, and the integration of advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.

In addition to these enhancements, the hospital has expanded its Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), a unique service in the Finger Lakes. The new emergency space features eight larger patient rooms, advanced trauma care technology, improved security monitoring, and a modern medication dispensing station.

The $3.8 million ED project, initiated in January 2021, complements the $32 million Lisk Morris Comprehensive Care Center at CSHC. The latter, previously referred to as a “medical village,” boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced operating suites, the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute, and an array of medical services from imaging to dentistry. Richard “Chip” Davis, PhD, RRH Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the organization’s dedication to addressing rural healthcare challenges, stating, “Rochester Regional Health is doubling its commitment to transforming rural health.”

The expanded ED was made possible through the generous contributions of Rob and Pamela Sands, a matching fund from the Lisk Morris Foundation, and the support of the Clifton Springs community.
