POUGHKEEPSIE – Members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force (DCDTF) executed a pre-dawn search warrant on Friday that resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the seizure of an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine. The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation of suspected drug sales along the Main Street corridor in Poughkeepsie.
Thirty-seven-year-old Alonzo Newman was awoken at his Harrison Street residence by the officers executing a search warrant just after 4:00 a.m. on Friday. The raid was conducted by members of the DCDTF with assistance from patrol deputies from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
Newman was placed in cuffs and escorted out of the home toward a police vehicle. He was searched, placed in the deputy’s vehicle, and taken back to headquarters for processing.

The cocaine was discovered in the residence and Newman was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was being held for arraignment Friday morning.

If a dealer is released on an appearance ticket and resumes selling poison, we will arrest them again – and we’ll keep arresting them until they are finally sentenced to prison where they belong.”
The DCDTF is also asking anyone who has information about the activities of Munoz or anyone else suspected of illegal drug sales to call the task force’s confidential tip line at 845-463-6040 or…
