CARMEL – A 35-year-old Cortlandt Manor man was killed in a one-car crash on Wednesday, August 30, in Carmel. The Carmel Police Department is seeking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them.
Carmel police officers responded to the accident on Route 301 in the area of Gypsy Trail Road on Wednesday at 4:04 p.m. The first responders found the operator, Andrew Persevento unconscious and unresponsive with indications that he had sustained major internal injuries.
Police were joined by the Carmel Fire Department, Carmel Volunteer Ambulance, and Empress EMS personnel at the scene and assisted in the extrication of the victim who is believed to have been traveling eastbound when his SUV left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and rolled onto its roof. Once extricated, life-saving measures were taken before being transported to the Putnam Hospital Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Carmel Police Detectives are continuing their investigation into the accident and any potential witnesses are asked to contact The Town of Carmel Police Detective Division at 845-628-1300.
