DeWitt, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Wednesday after a deputy shot two teenagers while responding to a suspicious person call in DeWitt.

Sheriff Toby Shelley said that the deputy fired three shots when a car drove toward him. The deputy was unable to get out of the way because he was positioned between a bench and a car, Shelley said during the news conference.

Shelley confirmed that two teenagers were killed

The car fled the scene and ended up on Mooney Avenue in Syracuse where the teens were found dead.
