Staten Island man charged in murder of 63-year-old man discovered in Mariners Harbor apartment building

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 63-year-old victim who was found dead inside his apartment building in Mariners Harbor last month, according to police.

Enrique Scott, 47, was arrested Thursday at around 4:10 p.m. within the confines of the 121st Precinct. He has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Scott is listed as residing in the same apartment building — 35 Holland Ave. — as the victim.

The body of Anthony Williams, 63, was badly decomposed when a security guard made the tragic discovery, a source told the Advance/SILive.com.

The body of Williams was found when police responded on Aug. 27 at about 12:40 p.m. to a 911 call of a man needing assistance inside the apartment complex, police said.

The 63-year-old was unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his body when officers arrived. EMS responded and pronounced Williams dead at the scene, according to a police statement.

A possible motive for the killing has not yet been determined.

Defense attorney information for Scott was not readily available.
