Snooki storms stadium – forces Saturday doubleheader (Snooki Video)

WAPPINGERS FALLS – The Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees were besieged by storms Friday night, starting with the return of former Renegades concession stand employee Nicole LaValle, better known as “Snooki”.  The second storm contained thunder, lightning, and torrential rains, preventing the game against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws from taking place on Friday night.

The biggest pitch of the night was thrown by LaValle to mark the start of “Snooki Night” at the stadium.  It was also one of the only pitches tossed.

With hundreds of fans braving the rain to see their idol, LaValle spent a few minutes with the Renegades and Mid-Hudson News before the scheduled start of the game.  On coming back to the ballpark she said “It’s very nostalgic for me.  I loved working here.  It’s one of my most favorite jobs ever!”  Employed at the stadium while attending high school and known as Nicole Polizzi, she recalled the fun she had.  “I was doing the concession stand – selling hot dogs and hamburgers…my mom worked here with me – it was kind of like a family thing.”

Former Yankees pitcher and Renegades front office man Joe Ausanio recalled having Nicole as an employee.  “I’d stop by the concession night every game to get the receipts and every time she would say, “Joe, I am going to be famous one day.”  She was right.  The hit show Jersey Shore has elevated her to a worldwide personality.  Renegades Vice-president Rick Zolzer recalled the beginning of her stardom.  “She was working one night and told me that she was going to go film a pilot for a reality show.  That show was Jersey Shore and she hasn’t looked back.”

“I told Joe I was going to be famous one day – and now he knows,” Snooki said joking with the reporter.  Despite the Jersey Shore baseball team being in the stadium, when pressed to choose who she was rooting for, Snooki confirmed that the Renegades were her pick for…
