The game was knotted at two going into the eighth inning, but things quickly unraveled for New York. Jonathan Loรกisiga and Matt Krook combined to allow seven runs over the final two innings, putting the game out of reach for the offense.
Anthony Volpe plated the Yankeesโ first run with a single, and the second run scored on Oswald Perazaโs fielderโs choice, but aside from that, they managed just three hits.
Michael King surrendered two runs (one earned) over five innings while striking out a career-high nine batters.
The Yankees will try to avoid the three-game sweep on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. as Gerrit Cole takes the ball.
