Mike Williams, former wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has passed away, per his agent Hadley Engelhard.
The Buffalo native was hospitalized in Tampa last week after a construction accident. The accident left him partially paralyzed on life support and led to reports that he had died.
His mother, Mary Rosenthal, said he was taken off of the ventilator on Friday, per his own requests.
Williams played at Syracuse University before he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was signed to a four-year deal to the Bucs before he was traded to the Bills in 2014.
As a Bill, he had one touchdown โ an 80-yard pass from EJ Manuel. Throughout his career, he had 223 catches for 3,089 yards and 26 touchdowns. Williams played in 63 games and made 52 starts.
