NORWOOD — A Norwood-Norfolk Central junior was honored for helping to save his employer’s life recently.

Brock Cousineau was recognized by school officials and presented with the NNCS Starfish award, which symbolizes making a difference in the lives of others, have compassion, and to put others’ needs before your own.

While working this summer, Cousineau’s employer suffered a severe allergic reaction resulting from a bee sting, according to BOCES Spokesperson Brittany Frank.

“Brock handled the crisis calmly, alerting his employer’s family, preparing to perform CPR, and providing support to his employer’s family throughout the incident,” she said.

The employer’s wife, Margaret Lader is a staff member in the school district and said, “throughout the entire situation.”

“Brock remained poised. He acted quickly and calmly, knowing exactly what to do in the moment and used his better judgment to ensure that my husband was safe … Brock demonstrated what it is to take care of other people and to always look out for your fellow Flyer,” she said.
