Syracuse murder trial cut short by plea agreement day after co-defendant testifies

Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse man’s murder trial drew to a close early on Thursday with a plea agreement the day after his codefendant testified against him.

Kaivion Strong, 22, pleaded guilty to fatally shooting Dasheem East, 20, during a drive-by in Syracuse on June 20, 2022. He was promised a sentence of 25 years in exchange for his plea to the reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter.
