Central NY man crashed stolen car as police from multiple agencies chased him

Syracuse, N.Y. — A Central New York man fleeing from police crashed a stolen car and made a run for it before officers caught up to him.

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck said his department had been looking for Trent Goodrich, 22, of Wolcott, on arrest warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and 2nd-degree robbery since Aug. 31.

During its investigation, it developed information that Wolcott was in Wayne County, he said. A coordinated effort was then made between his office, the Wayne County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the Auburn Police Department, the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, the Cayuga County Probation Department, New York State Parole and the New York State Police to search for him there, he said.

Schenck said Goodrich was located in Wayne County on Wednesday and immediately fled in a stolen vehicle. After a brief pursuit, Goodrich crashed the vehicle in a field and ran, but was caught by officers, he said.

Goodrich was transported to the Cayuga County Sheriffโ€™s Office where he was processed on the warrants and held at the Cayuga County Jail pending court appearance.
