Children get arts & academics programming with state grant

POUGHKEEPSIE – Senator Rob Rolison delivered on his commitment to the city’s youth by delivering a grant for programming recently.  Rolison joined with Boys & Girls Club of Poughkeepsie Executive Director Kevin White to announce the new funding.

“They are doing so much great work,” Rolison said in announcing the $20,000 grant.  “This funding supports a community approach to help children and families and that leads to a stronger city.”

“These funds are going to be used to support our arts and academic programs here in Poughkeepsie,” White said.  Touting a vital program, White explained, “Project Learn is an academic enrichment program that works to ensure that young children, grades K-3, are reading at grade level when they exit third grade.”  White noted that the program also strives to make sure all students graduate high school.
