Staten Island electeds slam new Island Shores shelter; call for audit of NYC migrant spending

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The borough’s Republican delegation is continuing its crusade against the new migrant shelters opening on Staten Island, slamming New York City for a lack of transparency and accountability, while urging the Comptroller’s Office to audit the city’s exorbitant migrant care spending.

On Thursday, elected officials gathered outside the new migrant shelter located at the former Island Shores Senior Residence at 1111 Father Capodanno Blvd., Midland Beach blasting both City Hall and Homes for the Homeless, the nonprofit organization that owns the facility, for what they call a “shady deal” to house migrants at the location.
