Joe Namath calls out Jets’ Zach Wilson on social media: ‘Wrong direction Zach!’

Jets fans held their boos until the second quarter in Sunday’s rainy Week 3 game against the Patriots, but Joe Namath started ripping New York’s sloppy play 20 minutes after kickoff.

Broadway Joe shared a series of posts on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, in the first half of Sunday’s game.

The Hall of Fame quarterback spoke directly to Wilson through X:

Why would Zach just go down when he could’ve spun outta there and maybe found a receiver, bought some time. Geez.

Why wouldn’t he have caught that ball?!! Is he afraid of a wet ball?

They need to throw on 3rd!

If the ground is slippery it’s like that for both teams!… It’s disgusting to see us throw short of the first down marker on 3rd if the receiver isn’t running vertically.

WRONG DIRECTION ZACH! Step UP into that pocket!

I’m starting to wonder if Zach’s playing like he’s being coached. He’s making choices that are not intuitive to the quarterback position.

Our pass patterns, receiver routes seem to be predictable.

Namath was still posting into the second quarter.

The Jets, powered by their run game, were able to get on the board towards the end of the first half. Greg Zuerlein kicked a 52-yard field goal for the first Jets points of the day.

Wilson so far has completed 5 of 10 passes for 29 yards, and he’s been sacked twice for a total loss of 19 yards as the Patriots lead 10-3 at the half.
