Yankees eliminated from postseason contention with loss to Diamondbacks

With a week left in the regular season, the New York Yankees (78-77) have been eliminated from postseason contention with a 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks (82-73) on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Box Score

New York had trouble generating offense, as they have most of the season. The lone run came via an Aaron Judge walk with two outs in the ninth inning.

Carlos Rodón’s disappointing season continued as the right-hander allowed five runs (three earned) over 6.1 innings.

The Yankees will try to take two of three from the Diamondbacks on Monday at 1:05 p.m. in the final home game of the 2023 season.
