Seneca County Democratic Committee to host ‘afternoon tea’ event on Sunday

This Sunday the Seneca County Democratic Committee is offering a traditional English afternoon tea with some new twists. There will be the traditional tarts, cakes and an assortment of elegant tea sandwiches filled with cucumber and dill, egg and cress, ham and cheese and turkey tarragon. And plenty of hot tea, of course. But there is also a cash bar serving specialty cocktails and sparkling wine. Guests will be entertained by the music of rising indie artist Luke Mock, whose captivating vocals and infectious pop music elements have drawn comparisons to icons such as Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, and Julia Michaels. There will also be a silent auction, and of course a chance to meet candidates running for office.

The event takes place on Sunday, October 1st from 3-5 pm 31 Fall Street (the old Mynderse Library on Van Cleef Lake, now the home of Elements on Van Cleef). The suggested ticket price is $40 per person, $70 per couple, or “more if you can, less if you can’t.” According to Rachel Weil, chair of the Seneca Falls Democratic Committee, “we want everyone to feel included, so kids can come for free, and those who can’t pay the suggested price can just pay what they can. The important thing is for people to enjoy themselves, get to know one another, and feel energized about the Democratic party.” Proceeds will go to support Democratic candidates running in this year’s local elections.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by going to the Seneca County Democratic Committee website at scdemocrats.org or by contacting Rachel Weil at [email protected].
