The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on an overnight accident involving a pedestrian.
Alec Defendis was traveling north on Geneva Street, when a ‘highly intoxicated’ male appeared in the middle of the road.
Defendis was approaching the crest of the bridge with the Erie Canal on Geneva Street, according to deputies, who said the pedestrian was struck.
The pedestrian was identified as Joshua Barber, and said to be walking in the middle of the road at the time of the accident, deputies added. The accident happened around 2:47 a.m.
Defendis was not injured in the accident. However, Barber suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
