The husband of the woman who owned the Bronx day care where a 1-year-old died after being exposed to fentanyl has been arrested in Mexico, police said Tuesday.

The NYPD said the Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Marshals were involved in the arrest of Grei Mendezโ€™s husband, whose name has not yet been released. Police did not confirm his name because charges have not yet been filed.

Mendezโ€™s husband is the fourth person arrested in connection to the day care where law enforcement found large quantities of narcotics under floorboards where children played and slept.

Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38, of the Bronx, was arraigned in federal court on Monday on charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death. Mendez, who ran the day care out of her apartment, was charged with murder on Saturday. Carlisto Acevedo Brito, who rented a room in the apartment and who police say is related to Mendezโ€™s husband, was also charged with murder.

Law enforcement officials were searching for Mendezโ€™s husband after he was seen leaving the Bronx apartment carrying two shopping bags just minutes after Mendez warned him about the unresponsive children, the Associated Press reported.
