A fiery collision between a school bus and passenger vehicle on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Lake Road and State Route 250 in Webster led to one fatality, but no serious injuries to students.
The bus, transporting 22 high school students and three adults, was returning from a field trip. Authorities are still investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the crash.
Webster Assistant Fire Chief Steve Kozak told local media that the bus was significantly damaged with the car lodged into its side.
Quick and collaborative efforts by the school bus driver and the chaperones ensured the evacuation of all the students from the burning bus, averting what could have been a severe catastrophe.
They led the students to safety, a half mile away from the crash site, before informing the parents that their children were safe.
