Ithaca police investigate W. State St. machete attack; suspect remains at-large

The Ithaca Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing incident that happened on W. State St. in the 600 block, around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a regional hospital for treatment.

The assailant had fled the vicinity before police arrived and is currently at large.

Surveillance footage from the scene depicts the victim being assaulted with a machete by a Hispanic male, dressed in blue jeans, a brown coat, and wearing glasses.

Preliminary investigations by the Ithaca Police suggest that this was not a random attack, and there seems to be no immediate threat to the public, stemming from this incident.

Ithaca Police Department urges anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
