PORT JERVIS – The City of Port Jervis has pulled itself up from its bootstraps in terms of its financial situation in recent years, Mayor Kelly Decker says.
Unlike past years, he said as the city nears the end of this year, it will not need to do any short-term borrowing.
“Which is a really good sign to our growth and the prosperity that has happened even with COVID, and we talk about COVID. COVID was really 2 ½ to three years, so the city has held its own and we are still the lowest taxes in Orange County, and you get a lot of services in the dollars you spend in your city taxes,” he said.
Economic development in Port Jervis has come alive with a downtown hotel under construction and several small businesses cropping up.
