Extra Extra: What if you could take the 7 train to NJ?

It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City, where tuberculosis cases are on the rise.

The NYC agency responsible for monitoring the disease is understaffed, which means it’s also struggling to respond to reports of new cases. There have been 500 confirmed cases of tuberculosis so far this year, making it the worst year in a decade.

Here’s what else is going on:

  • With congestion pricing tolls on the horizon, two congressmembers proposed the MTA extend the 7 train line to New Jersey via a tunnel under the Hudson River.
  • NYC public school students have new lunch menu offerings this year.
  • Commander Biden, the First Family’s dog, was removed from the White House after about a dozen biting incidents. Officials are still deciding what to do about the naughty canine.
  • New Yorkers applying for food stamps, Medicaid and other public assistance will soon be able to choose an “X” as their gender option.
  • A New Hampshire man is accused of stalking a New York woman “by plane,” but it’s unclear what that means exactly.
  • A new Korean fine dining restaurant just opened… inside of the Herald Square subway station.
  • Mayor Eric Adams isn’t following through with plans for bus improvements on Fordham Road, and New Yorkers have something to say about that.
