STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — While Staten Island has seen an increase in NYPD officers assigned to its precincts in recent months, concerns about police staffing continue as the borough battles an increase in crime this year.
And while a newly-negotiated contract for patrol officers and detectives could help ongoing staffing issues in the future, Staten Island’s top prosecutor said more cops on the street could help combat key issues like overdoses and violence on the North Shore.
