New West Side Bazaar restaurants to broaden Buffalo’s dining atlas

The menu of dining options available in Buffalo is about to get a little deeper, thanks to the new West Side Bazaar.

Malaysian, Egyptian and Congolese restaurants will add to Buffaloโ€™s round-the-world dining atlas when the new Bazaar opens for business Oct. 31 at 1432 Niagara St. Those options will be joined by Korean, Italian, sushi and ramen, Vietnamese and a Burmese place with Rakhine specialties.

A few blocks away, Downtown Bazaar, 617 Main St., will still be the place for Ethiopian, Filipino, South Sudanese and Pattaya Street Foodโ€™s Burmese and bubble tea lineup.

Both are operated by Westminster Economic Development (WEDI).

The new Niagara Street location replaces the Bazaarโ€™s previous home at 25 Grant St., which closed 13 months ago due to an accidental morning fire from an electrical short in a point-of-sale machine the same month construction of the new space began.

Operators say patrons should expect a rocky start as the new site gets off the ground, as all new operations have to get their sea legs. Hours: 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

Among the menu highlights:

Egyptian Bites:ย Shawarma, kunafa, falafel, shish tawook, hawawshi, koshary, mahshi.

Williamโ€™s Kitchen Korean Comfort Food: Bulgogi, vegan and regular bibimbap, soy-garlic chicken wings, chicken katsu, chicken or Spam kimchi-bokkeumbap, pork kimchi jjigae with rice cake, soondubu in vegan, chicken, beef.

Phyu Thein (Malaysian): Beef and chicken rendang, fried beef chae kway teow, chicken nasi lemak, beef Maggi goreng, laksa, fried chicken Malaysian nasi biryani, chicken mee goreng, grilled sticky rice, coconut jelly.

Ramree Corp.ย (Burmese): Tea leaf, mango and ginger salads, chicken coconut curry noodle soup, catfish noodle soupย and Burmese curries, but also Rakhine specialties like Rakhine moti, a fish noodle soup that carries a chile kick, and nan gyi thoat, a Burmese curry pasta salad with thick noodles, chicken and the traditional Burmese double-tap:…
