The conversation was marked by Collins’s unwavering support for former President Donald Trump’s policies, contrasted starkly against Dr. Richey’s incisive critique of their ramifications—particularly for marginalized communities such as Black Americans.

The discussion opened with Collins making a bold prediction: Trump is poised to reclaim the White House in 2024. He pointed to Trump’s influence in crucial battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, asserting that these states will play pivotal roles in the electoral outcome. Collins emphasized that the economy would be the defining issue for voters, especially given rising living costs and inflation, which he believes resonate deeply with the electorate’s concerns as they gear up to vote.

Collins didn’t shy away from criticizing current Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that her strategies have lacked clarity and effectiveness, despite her nearly four years in office. He questioned her ability to spearhead genuine change amid ongoing economic challenges.

Dr. Richey, however, pushed back against Collins’s assertions regarding Trump’s prospects. Citing polling data, he illustrated a tightly contested race, challenging Collins’s confidence in a Trump victory. The host took a robust stance on the economic impacts of Trump’s presidency, particularly highlighting the significant increase in inflation rates during his term, which, according to Richey, led to a decrease in real household incomes for Black Americans—a demographic that Collins argues should have benefited more from Trump’s policies.

Regarding trade, Collins defended Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods as a necessary move to safeguard American interests and support farmers. He acknowledged, though, that these tariffs have had complicated repercussions for the agricultural sector, complicating the narrative of unmitigated success.

The topic then veered towards immigration. Collins contended that illegal immigration poses a pressing issue requiring urgent reform and enforcement of the existing laws. Dr. Richey contested this assertion, framing the narrative around immigration as often misleading. He asserted that automation, rather than immigrant labor, plays a far more significant role in job losses, urging a reevaluation of how these narratives shape public perception.

The conversation took a humanizing turn when Richey addressed the terminology used in immigration debates, highlighting how labeling individuals as “illegal immigrants” dehumanizes them. He advocated for a broader understanding of the socio-economic factors that drive migration, such as instability and economic turmoil in migrants’ countries of origin.

As the dialogue expanded, both speakers found common ground on the shortcomings of U.S. foreign policy, particularly its failure to economically stabilize neighboring countries. They reflected on the historical context of U.S. relations with regions like Africa, noting that while previous administrations, particularly under Barack Obama, sought partnerships, those efforts have since declined, failing to address the roots of migration and instability.

Richey took a critical stance on the current political landscape, arguing that militaristic approaches to foreign policy perpetuate cycles of conflict instead of fostering growth and stability. He lamented the lack of effective economic strategies that could lead to meaningful change in regions that desperately need it.

This robust exchange highlights the complex landscape of American politics as the country marches toward the 2024 elections, illuminating the stark divisions in perspectives on economic and social issues.

Dr. Rashad Richey, a distinguished political analyst, university professor, and commentator, has made significant strides in this arena, and his recent nomination for Best News & Politics Podcast by the Black Podcasting Awards for the podcast, ‘Indisputable With Dr. Rashad Richey’, distributed by the TYT Network, is a testament to his impactful work. ‘Indisputable’ is available on virtually all podcast platforms including iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Audible, ranking in the top 1% of most listened-to podcasts globally by podcast rating company Listen Notes.

Dr. Richey is best known for his dynamic and thought-provoking on-air platforms, where he delves into the intricacies of current events, social justice issues, and political discourse. His unique ability to dissect complex topics and present them in an accessible manner has garnered him a diverse audience, ranging from political enthusiasts to everyday listeners seeking to understand the world around them.

At the heart of Dr. Richey’s podcast is a commitment to fostering informed dialogue. He frequently invites guests from various backgrounds, including activists, politicians, and scholars, to share their insights and experiences. This approach not only enriches the conversation but also provides listeners with multiple perspectives on critical issues. Dr. Richey’s skillful moderation and compelling storytelling create an engaging listening experience that encourages audience participation and reflection.

The Black Podcasting Awards aim to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Black podcasters across various genres. Dr. Richey’s nomination in the Best News & Politics category highlights the increasing importance of Black voices in shaping narratives around politics and social justice. As the media landscape becomes more fragmented, platforms like the Black Podcasting Awards serve to uplift and amplify creators who are making meaningful contributions to the discourse.

This Emmy-nominated national broadcaster, philanthropist, published author, physics professor and the 2023 recipient of the Top Media Estate Award from the Multicultural Media Correspondents Association, sponsored by Comcast NBC Universal, recently signed a national radio syndication deal with Agents & Strategies LLC, estimated to be worth over 2.7 million dollars, airing his morning show, ‘The Dr. Rashad Richey Morning Show’ on radio stations across the USA and Canada, making him the “king of media” in more ways than one.

Dr. Richey first began his rise to national prominence while being the on-air television political analyst for CBS News Atlanta, where he was the first (and only) political commentator to receive an Emmy nomination for his role. In 2020 and 2021, he provided weekly commentary on MSNBC, debating issues with counter-commentators on a litany of subjects, while maintaining his local weekday morning talk show in Atlanta, Georgia, the ‘Rashad Richey Morning Show’, airing on News & Talk 1380-WAOK, an Audacy station. Dr. Richey, who recently signed a 2.7 million dollar national syndication deal with Agents & Strategies for his morning show, has interviewed everyone from Bobby Brown to presidential candidate, United States Vice-President Kamala Harris. His popularity in the Atlanta market earned him the distinction of being named “Most Trusted Voice in Atlanta” by the Atlanta Business Journal and was voted ‘Best Talk Radio Personality in Atlanta’ by readers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, making him the first Black broadcaster to receive the distinction.

In the most recent Reader’s Choice edition of Atlanta Magazine, Dr. Richey was voted ‘Best TV News Anchor’  and ‘Best Radio Personality’, the first person to win both categories simultaneously. “When Dr. Richey speaks, he resonates with people from all walks of life. His authenticity is derived from his lived experiences. His heart for people-centered solutions makes him focused, fearless, and fine-tuned, speaking truth in an era where disinformation has become a sport for some. His relentless passion sheds light on the soul of America, contributing to a more illuminated future”, said David Morgan, Co-Founder and President, Multicultural Media & Correspondents Association.

In addition to his weekly radio broadcast, Dr. Richey also holds down the air-chair as host of ‘The Dr. Rashad Richey Review’ on SiriusXM Urban View Channel 126, airing Sundays at 1 pm EST & 9 pm EST and still has enough energy to be the daily television opinion news anchor for ‘Indisputable With Dr. Rashad Richey,’ a live nationally syndicated TV show through the TYT Network, ranked the “fastest-growing TV news show in America” by HEG Evaluation Group, with over three million viewers daily. The show regularly features nationally known figures like radio giant, actor, and comedian Rickey Smiley, HBO Max’s Aida Rodriguez, news host Sharon Reed, and Enfield, North Carolina Mayor Mondale Robinson.

‘Indisputable’s’ corresponding YouTube and Facebook Watch pages have over 2.17 million combined subscribers/followers, and airs live weekdays from 2:30 pm to 4 pm EST on Comcast Xfinity, Xfinity Flex, SamsungTV, RokuTV, PlutoTV, and other national digital cable platforms. And while his new 2.7-million-dollar syndication deal ranks him as a top earner in media, Dr. Richey’s YouTube page alone garners 2.65 million dollars annually according to the website FameMingles, and his TYT Network deal allows for multi-market syndication across a plethora of monetized platforms. These numbers do not include endorsement arrangements or his SuriusXM contract. Based on industry estimates, Dr. Richey’s media empire, which includes being president of Rolling Out, the largest free-print urban publication in America, ranges between 8.1 – 12.2 million dollars. The success experienced by Dr. Richey and other content creators of his pedigree points to the power of being a multifaceted, multi-platformed, technologically savvy on-air talent, understanding the power of traditional and nontraditional media mediums, to more effectively reach the masses.

He’s not only a media behemoth, Dr. Richey is also a noted inventor, academician, and business owner, mastering multiple industries. His latest patented invention, the Neurological Brain Entrainment Device (NBED), which is set for medical clinical trials, explores ways to enhance human cognition. NBED has received high compliments from the scientific community and publications like MediTech and TechTimes. His peer-reviewed published research in quantum physics, neurophysics, immigration law, and federal policy reform, can be found in various academic journals including the International Journal of Science & Research, and has been cited by scholars in the US and internationally. Dr. Richey is enrolled in graduate studies at Dartmouth College, serves as a professor of physics at Paris Graduate School and a professor of business at Morris Brown College, an HBCU. He has provided lectures and keynote addresses at various universities including the University of Michigan, Clark Atlanta University, Reinhardt University, St. Petersburg College, Albany State University, and Morehouse School of Medicine to name a few.

After matriculating at Birmingham School of Law for two years, Dr. Richey transferred to Renaissance University, an institution in academic partnership with the Faculty of Law at University of Montreal, which was founded in 1892, and is ranked as the ‘best francophone law school in the world’. He completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (law degree) and now serves as the managing partner for the Law Office of Richey & Wilson, also known as The Fairness Firm, D.C.

Dr. Richey holds multiple advanced degrees, completing doctoral research studies at Clark Atlanta University in federal policy reform and earned his Doctor of Laws (LLD) in Immigration Law & World Economies from Azteca University. He holds an MBA from Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, Georgia and Master of Science in agronomical physics from the Universite de la Renaissance, which has a framework agreement with the University of Rennes 2, the largest center for research and higher education in the field of human science in western France. His Master of Science in neuroscience, with an emphasis on neurophysics, was earned from the University of Pacific. Dr. Richey is in the final phase of completing his PhD in the Quantum Physics research program through the Innovate Knowledge Institute at Paris Graduate School, where his research focus delves into the quantum-biological connections between quantum properties and human neurological processes.

An established maverick with nuances and depth beyond the norm, Dr. Richey is the youngest inductee into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame, and received the 2023 “Distinguished Alumni Award” from Clark Atlanta University. He was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from President Barack Obama in 2016 and is also the youngest inductee into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Ambassador Andrew Young, and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall are past recipients.

Dr. Richey is the Director of Alternative Medicine Research at the West Cascade Medical Center and a Board Certified Alternative Medical Practitioner by the American Alternative Medical Association. He serves on the Board of Directors for Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, is Chairman of the Georgia Council for International Visitors – a US State Department program, Chairman of the International Consular Ball – 2024, and founder of the Rashad Richey Foundation, a nonprofit providing mentorship to gang-affected and gang-affiliated youth. He is a member of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, Inc., the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, National Society of Black Physicists, and the International Behavioral Neuroscience Society.

While Dr. Richey was not available for interview, when asked in a previous article, how he does it all, he said, “We are more than just physical beings and capable of achieving feats congruent to our willingness to learn and our will to serve. God has given each of us a divine spark inside. Connecting with that divine spark will make mountains move out of your way.”

In an era where misinformation can spread like wildfire, Dr. Richey’s work stands out as a beacon of clarity and integrity. His dedication to truth-telling and accountability resonates deeply with audiences who are increasingly seeking reliable sources of information. The nomination for the Black Podcasting Awards is not just a recognition of his talent but also a validation of the vital role that informed commentary plays in our society.

As the awards ceremony approaches, fans and supporters of Dr. Rashad Richey are rallying behind him, celebrating his achievements and looking forward to what he will bring to the podcasting community in the future. Whether or not he takes home the award, his influence continues to grow, inspiring a new generation of thinkers and activists to engage with the pressing issues of our time.

Speaking exclusively to Rolling Out and BIPOC media via BIPOCXChange.com, executive producers of the NAACP Image Awards’ nominated television movie, First Lady Of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story, Judge Greg Mathis and Welch talk about telling her true story, and showing both the glamorous rise and the tragic fall associated with the “dope game.”

In this clip, moderator D’essence Smiley of rolling out, asks Welch and Mathis what audiences, familiar with the BMF on STARZ series, learn watching her biopic.

“That you go to prison for many years, you don’t see that on the series; the detrimental experience to your family, you don’t see that…you don’t see how your life has been turned upside down forever,” says Mathis.

In a candid moment, Welch addresses her portrayal in the series.  Fans and followers of the STARZ series may remember the social media firestorm created during season one of BMF.  Welch went public about “Markeisha” (played by LaLa Anthony) being depicted as a predator, and immediately challenged how the character based on her life was being shown in the series.

I don’t want young girls to think this is how it is; me chasing a young boy.  I don’t like the way they are showing my character, I think I’m a strong independent woman, and always have been, even though I chose the wrong.

In the wide-ranging interview, Welch talks about wanting hers to be a cautionary tale that shows the impact on the family, the abandonment of friends and loved ones, and her true story.  Judge Mathis echoed Welch’s sentiment and offered commentary about showing the true realities versus the glorification of the drug game.

Welch and Mathis, were joined by the film’s stars, Michelle Mitchenor (“First Wives Club”), and Tobias Truvillions (“City On A Hill”), for an FYC conversation hosted by Rolling Out, Plume | The Nominees Are.   In partnership with MegaMind Media, Plume is an interview series created exclusively by and for BIPOC media.

First Lady Of BMF is nominated for two NAACP Image Awards: Outstanding Television Movie, Limited-Series, or Dramatic Special and Outstanding Directing In A Television Movie.  Vivica A. Fox earns her first directing nomination in her feature film directorial debut.

Voting for the NAACP Image Awards’ closes this Saturday, February 24.

“I always believed that the success of Gideon’s Promise depended on our ability to transition to leadership beyond me and Illy,” says Jonathan Rapping. “We could not have found a more perfect successor.” He continued, “No one knows and loves Gideon’s Promise more than Zanele, and few
possess her credentials and skillset so critical to this role.” Rapping added, “It took a dynamic partnership to lay the foundation and I am so thrilled to honor two of my favorite couples. Ed and Judy, and Mawuli and Jana, have done so much to improve the lives of the communities that public defenders serve, both inside the criminal justice system and beyond.”

“To have the evening hosted by Dr. Richey is just icing on the cake. He knows the work of Gideon’s Promise intimately and has a personal connection to it. He is the ideal person to lift up Gideon’s Promise and our honorees at Igniting Change,” Rapping stated.

About Gideon’s Promise

Gideon’s Promise is a non-profit public defender organization whose mission is to transform the criminal justice system by building a movement of public defenders who provide equal justice for marginalized communities. Founded in 2007 by Jonathan Rapping and Ilham Askia, the organization has grown from a single training program for 16 attorneys in two public defender offices in Georgia and Louisiana to a national enterprise with over 2,000 participants in 130 public defender offices across 29 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization’s initial three-year program for new public defenders has expanded into a comprehensive program model that supports public defenders at all levels of their careers.

Police Drop Charges After Dr. Richey’s Coverage on Indisputable https://newyorkinquisitor.com/news/police-drop-charges-after-dr-richeys-coverage-on-indisputable-2/ https://newyorkinquisitor.com/news/police-drop-charges-after-dr-richeys-coverage-on-indisputable-2/#respond Wed, 08 Nov 2023 04:09:38 +0000 https://newyorkinquisitor.com/?p=109778 On August 24, 2023, the renowned advocate for civil and humanitarian rights, Dr. Rashad Richey, fearlessly reported on his nationally syndicated program Indisputable with Dr. Rashad Richey through the TYT Network and recently ranked the “Fastest Growing TV News Show in America”, by H.E.G. Evaluation Group, with over 3 million viewers daily, an incident of police brutality that occurred in Broward County May 7, 2022. The victim was Kianna Cooper, a Black woman who was waiting in her car when approached and assaulted by a Fort Lauderdale cop. Despite Ms. Cooper being the victim, she was charged with aggravated battery and resisting an officer with violence. However, thanks to Dr. Richey’s reporting on the matter, all charges against Ms. Cooper have since been dropped.

The anguishing words of “Sir, Please! Why are you being aggressive?” will forever be etched in the memory of Indisputable viewers as this violent scene took place. The incident began with a 911 call about a dispute over a parking spot.  However, when Broward County Deputy Sheriff Steven Davis arrived at the scene, he inexplicably believed that he was investigating an assault, which prompted him to demand identification from Cooper immediately upon arrival. Kianna Cooper was innocently waiting for her friend at the beach to celebrate her birthday, but little did she know that it would turn into a nightmare in Broward County. Sheriff Deputy Davis continued to escalate the situation, making a series of demands that eventually pushed Cooper to question why she was being asked to provide her ID while being on the phone with her mother. When Deputy Davis demanded her ID again, Cooper hesitated. Tragically, that is when the horror truly began. Cooper’s lawyer, Stephen Melnick, said that had the “911 dispatcher had not mistakenly categorized it as an assault instead of a disturbing the peace call, Deputy Davis would never have had the right to ask my client for her ID,” according to South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Within seconds, the assault on Ms. Cooper began, leaving her subjected to unimaginable brutality at the hands of Deputy Davis. These horrifying images were shared directly with the Indisputable program. Following an investigation and subsequent court hearing, Deputy Davis claimed that Ms. Cooper was non-compliant and that she was the one who attacked him. As a result, Ms. Cooper was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. Ms. Cooper provided a statement to Dr. Richey and the Indisputable team, expressing how the incident has ruined her life. She detailed the financial burdens, the immense physical pain, and other numerous negative impacts. The Indisputable team reached out to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department to see if Deputy Davis had received any level of repercussion, they simply stated, “the incident is currently being heard in court.”

Deputy Davis’s actions occurred under the leadership of Sheriff Gregory Tony. What’s even more concerning is that this wasn’t Deputy Davis’s first incident of police brutality. Through their top-tier research, the Indisputable team uncovered that Davis had been taken to court in 2017 for forcibly arresting a man and then using a Taser on the man’s wife. This is just one of several cases that have come to light since Cooper’s assault.

Dr. Richey’s exceptional coverage of this story brought the truth to light and played a crucial role in the dismissal of all charges against Ms. Cooper. A nationally recognized scholarly figure and social scientist, Dr. Richey has been lauded by America News Now as one of the most influential voices in American culture. Dr. Richey’s credentials include being the first Political Analyst to earn an Emmy nomination at CBS News Atlanta, as well as being the daily talk radio host of the highly acclaimed Rashad Richey Morning Show on News & Talk 1380-WAOK and V-103 HD3. He was voted Best Talk Radio Personality in Atlanta by readers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and named Most Trusted Voice in Atlanta by the Atlanta Business Journal, making him a trailblazer as the first African American broadcaster to receive these prestigious honors. Clark Atlanta University embarks on campus Expansion https://newyorkinquisitor.com/uncategorized/clark-atlanta-university-embarks-on-campus-expansion/ https://newyorkinquisitor.com/uncategorized/clark-atlanta-university-embarks-on-campus-expansion/#respond Fri, 20 Oct 2023 10:04:26 +0000 https://newyorkinquisitor.com/?p=101291 The Education in Atlanta Newsroom wrote, “The Board of Trustees of Clark Atlanta University (CAU) has unveiled plans to construct three new campus facilities simultaneously to address housing and student experience on campus.

Following an extensive and inclusive process of student engagement, the university’s administration has proposed the construction of a new freshman residence hall, a second dining hall, and a cutting-edge student success center, all aimed at fostering academic and personal growth.

The focal point of this undertaking is a state-of-the-art residence hall designed to house up to 400 students. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first residence hall to be constructed and owned by Clark Atlanta University since the creation of Brawley Hall for the 1996 Olympic Games.

In addition to the new residence hall, CAU will expand its dining options by adding a second dining hall adjacent to the Bumstead/Ware site. This facility will offer a modern and diverse range of culinary choices, catering to the evolving tastes of the university’s dynamic student body.

Further enhancing the student experience, a brand-new student success center will be erected directly across SNCC Way. This center is expected to be a hub for academic and personal development, streamlining resources and programs to support student success. Its primary focus will be on fostering collaborative efforts and accelerating initiatives aimed at enhancing student persistence and completion.

To ensure the successful realization of these projects, Clark Atlanta University has devised a strategic financial plan that combines debt financing with contributions from a food service vendor. This approach is designed to meet the growing demand for on-campus student housing and facilitate the smooth implementation of these facilities.

In recent years, housing has been a concern at Clark Atlanta University with there not being enough housing and parents and students frustrated with the conditions students were living in. In reporting by 11 Alive last school year, parents arrived on campus without housing causing some students to stay in hotels. Just recently, there was flooding in campus dormitories that displaced 24 students to other on-campus housing.

In a press release from the college, President George T. French, Jr., Ph.D., expressed his enthusiasm for this historic decision, emphasizing, “Today’s decision by Clark Atlanta University’s Board is a testament to our unwavering commitment to our scholars’ success. It is a direct response to the increasing enrollment and the need for on-campus student housing.”

A date for construction has not been set for the construction of these projects.”

Child Molestation suspect in Georgia jail kills himself https://newyorkinquisitor.com/news/child-molestation-suspect-in-georgia-jail-kills-himself/ https://newyorkinquisitor.com/news/child-molestation-suspect-in-georgia-jail-kills-himself/#respond Tue, 21 Feb 2023 13:44:53 +0000 https://newyorkinquisitor.com/?p=3554 LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of an inmate at the Gwinnett County jail in Georgia. The Atlanta Press reported the inmate, 53-year-old David Jason Kelley, was booked into jail earlier this month for three charges involving child molestation.

Kelley met with his public defense attorney the morning of February 5, according to jail records, to discuss his child molestation charges; officials say the discussion included information about any possible sentencing that could come if Kelley was found guilty. About an hour after Kelley’s meeting with his attorney regarding his child molestation charges, records show Kelley was found dead inside his cell.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office says that based on the evidence indicating the manner of death, they do not suspect foul play and do not believe anyone else was involved in Kelley’s death.

During the time Kelley was found, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office was conducting a program called “Operation Take Back.” Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Department Director Chief Cleophas Atwater said it was a multi-division operation where Gwinnett Sheriff’s deputies from different divisions of the agency swept the entire jail, making sure every cell was in good condition while also looking for illegal contraband and drugs during the thorough inspection.
