Comptroller reports healthcare and social work jobs had greatest post-pandemic recovery

STATEWIDE — Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli reported Friday, Oct. 18, that the pandemic significantly reshaped the employment landscape. Employment in healthcare and social services increased more than other sectors since 2019, making up one in five jobs across New York. 

The report also notes that New York did not recover from job losses until April 2024, two years after the U.S. announced full recovery for the nation. Across the five boroughs, healthcare and social service jobs make up over 21% of jobs.
