BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — The Brooklyn Special Victims Squad has posted “Wanted” flyers on lamp posts around Brooklyn Heights, bearing a sketch of a suspect in an alarming sexually-motivated burglary.
In the early hours of Friday, May 12, an unknown man entered the North Heights apartment of a 43-year-old woman. According to the police report, the individual entered the victim’s bedroom as she slept and sexually assaulted her.
According to the Brooklyn Heights Blog, the woman was awakened by the stranger on top of her on her bed. She screamed and fought until the intruder retreated out of their apartment. She then went into her son’s bedroom, set up a barricade at the door, and called the police.
According to NYPD, the man fled with her wallet, which contained cash and credit cards.
Cops said the victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the assault. The NYPD on Sunday also Tweeted that tipsters could receive rewards up to $3,500 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
While initial police report said the crime took place in the vicinity of Middagh and Henry streets, the flyers posted on Sunday said the incident happened in the vicinity of Poplar and Henry streets.
In another development, late Sunday police released a photograph of the suspect taken as he jumped a subway turnstile.
