What a crowd! Hundreds of families poured into Pierrepont Playground in Brooklyn Heights when the gates opened at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the Brooklyn Heights Association’s 2024 egg hunt, a beloved annual tradition.
The scene was one of merry mayhem as hordes of children scavenged under sliding boards and in tree pits. Eggs were limited to three per child, but that didn’t bother the kids, some of whom re-hid their extra eggs for others to find. Bubble blowers were a big hit. A separate grassy area was set aside just for tots under the age of three.

Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon and Councilmember Lincoln Restler were all smiles as they watched the crowd. Simon, sporting a green coat, bright magenta cap, bluish scarf and an “I voted early” sticker, said she dressed in Easter egg colors in honor of the event.
BHA’s treat table was chockablock with homemade cupcakes and other goodies, and volunteers filled requests in a whirl. Former BHA President Koren Volk, who manages the organization’s Promenade Gardens Conservancy, said she believed this was the event’s biggest crowd ever.
