Remix Market opens Brooklyn location in Industry City

INDUSTRY CITY โ€” Remix Market, a secondhand shop selling a variety of home furnishings, art, home goods, and more, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Friday, commemorating the opening of its newest store in Brooklynโ€™s Industry City.

The company is rooted in helping keep reusable items out of landfills, according to Josh Cohen, its founder and president, adding that most of the merchandise comes from peopleโ€™s homes and businesses โ€” โ€œstuff that they are getting rid of,โ€ Cohen said, โ€œwhich are then brought back to life for folks to buy at heavily discounted prices.

โ€œIn that respect, itโ€™s good for the economy, because there are a lot of people struggling to buy things these days,โ€ he added. โ€œWeโ€™re also creating jobs in every store that we open.โ€

Currently, there are 18 Remix Markets in existence, mostly along the northeast, and that number is growing every month, Cohen pointed out.

The companyโ€™s newest location, however, is approximately 4,000 square feet โ€” more boutique, and considerably smaller than many of its counterparts.

โ€œWe chose Industry City as a location mainly because it has such a cool, hip vibe and fits in perfectly with this type of secondhand store,โ€ Cohen explained. โ€œWeโ€™re very excited to be here and be a part of whatโ€™s developing in this part of Brooklyn.โ€
