INDUSTRY CITY โ Remix Market, a secondhand shop selling a variety of home furnishings, art, home goods, and more, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Friday, commemorating the opening of its newest store in Brooklynโs Industry City.
The company is rooted in helping keep reusable items out of landfills, according to Josh Cohen, its founder and president, adding that most of the merchandise comes from peopleโs homes and businesses โ โstuff that they are getting rid of,โ Cohen said, โwhich are then brought back to life for folks to buy at heavily discounted prices.

โIn that respect, itโs good for the economy, because there are a lot of people struggling to buy things these days,โ he added. โWeโre also creating jobs in every store that we open.โ
Currently, there are 18 Remix Markets in existence, mostly along the northeast, and that number is growing every month, Cohen pointed out.
The companyโs newest location, however, is approximately 4,000 square feet โ more boutique, and considerably smaller than many of its counterparts.
โWe chose Industry City as a location mainly because it has such a cool, hip vibe and fits in perfectly with this type of secondhand store,โ Cohen explained. โWeโre very excited to be here and be a part of whatโs developing in this part of Brooklyn.โ
