Bullets flew across Brooklyn between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, leaving five people dead in four separate shootings, police reported.
None of the shootings appeared to be connected, police sources said on Thursday.
Police said the first homicide occurred at about 11:08 p.m. on Jan. 24 at 220 Schenectady Ave. in Crown Heights, within the confines of the 77th Precinct.
That’s where, law enforcement sources said, a 37-year-old man took a bullet to his neck. EMS rushed him to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.
During the investigation, officers took a person of interest into custody and brought that individual in for questioning. As of Thursday morning, charges against them are pending the results of the ongoing probe, police noted.
Slain in Brownsville
Less than a half-hour later, law enforcement sources said, officers from the 73rd Precinct in Brownsville rushed to a shooting at the corner of Atlantic and Rockaway Avenues at about 11:36 p.m. on Jan. 24.
Upon arriving at the scene, NYPD sources noted, they found a 28-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. EMS rushed the man to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead; the NYPD has not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
So far, no arrests have been made in the case, authorities said.
Two dead in Park Slope
An hour or so past midnight Thursday, police responded to the deadliest shooting of the evening: Two people gunned down at a Park Slope apartment building.
Officers from the 78th Precinct found the victims at 386 2nd St. at about 1:08 a.m. The two individuals, a 34-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were both shot in the head, according to police.
Responding EMS units pronounced them dead at the scene. Police have not yet disclosed their identities.Â
