A Brooklyn man was arraigned and charged with attempted murder and other charges for an alleged stabbing spree that left three men injured in November.
According to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, 27-year-old Abraham Kentish attacked three people at his homeless shelter — two of whom were sleeping at the time — and has now been charged with three counts of second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault and other charges connected to the incident.
Evidence revealed in the investigation showed that, on Nov. 12 2023 at 1:30 a.m., Kentish, who was living at the SUS homeless shelter in East New York, went into the room of a 70-year-old client who was also sleeping at the shelter and stabbed him 15 times. Kentish then allegedly went into another room and stabbed a 38-year-old men twice in the face and once in the elbow.
The defendant then ran from the shelter as a security guard called 911.
Later that morning, between 1:55 a.m. and 2:55 a.m., officials say Kentish went to the New Lots Avenue subway station and stabbed a 32-year-old man as he was sleeping on a 4 train.
“This defendant allegedly engaged in a horrific spree of violence, brutally stabbing three innocent and vulnerable people as they slept,” Gonzalez said in a statement. “We have no tolerance for this kind of random violence in Brooklyn and will now seek to bring the defendant to justice.”
All three stabbing victims were treated for their wounds at Brookdale Hospital.
Kentish was arrested on Nov. 12 2023 by two New York City Police Officers who saw he matched a department description.
