Calling all craft beer enthusiasts!
NYC Beer Week kicked off on Saturday at the Box Factory in Industry City, where the nonprofit New York City Brewers Guild hosted a jam-packed Opening Bash featuring more than 40 Big Apple-based beer makers.
The event featured exclusive brews, meet-and-greets with makers, owners, and staff, and bites from local independent food vendors.
Of the participating breweries, approximately one-third of them are BIPOC-owned or run — something the Brewers Guild says underscores its commitment to inclusivity within the craft beer industry.
“It’s the best week of the year!” the Guild wrote in a post on social media. “A huge thank you to everyone who came out to kick it off with us at Opening Bash. There are events celebrating independent and craft beer every day and every night this week.”
Though the Opening Bash has come and gone, NYC Beer Week is far from over. Now through March 3, the Brewers Guild is hosting events across the city in taprooms, breweries, bars and more.
NYC Beer Week will cap off with a grand finale on March 3, featuring the closing ceremony with the presentation of the prestigious Ruppert’s Cup, recognizing outstanding beers made exclusively with New York ingredients.
Organizers promise there is an event in each borough, every day of NYC Beer Week.
“Celebrate, support, share and enjoy,” the Guild’s post read on. “Because Beer Is For Everyone.”
