A cyclist died Monday afternoon after sustaining injuries while riding an e-bike in Sunset Park, according to police.

At approximately 4:09 p.m. on March 11, officers responded to a 911 call about a bicyclist who had apparently lost control of his e-bicycle near the intersection of 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue, within the confines of the 72nd Precinct.

The NYPD Highway Districtโ€™s Collision Investigation Squad subsequently determined that the cyclist โ€” identified as 67-year-old Jundi Hu of Bay Ridge โ€” had been traveling northbound on Sixth Avenue before losing control of the e-bikeโ€™s pedals. He sustained severe injuries after he was thrown to the pavement, cops said.

Paramedics rushed Hu to nearby NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being carried out by the Collision Investigation Squad. According to New York Cityโ€™s Vision Zero traffic injury and fatality tracker, the intersection where Huโ€™s accident occurred has not previously seen any traffic-related injuries or deaths.
