Firefighters battled yet another problematic e-bike fire in Brooklyn on Monday morning.

Engine Company 310 and Ladder 174 were met by a heavy smoke condition in the first-floor apartment, located at 412 East 51st St., just after 9:05 a.m. on Feb. 12.ย

Units from the Hazmat Trio of Engine Company 250, Hazmat Company 1 and Hazmat Battalion were called to remove the badly burned e-bikes and lithium-ion batteries from the building. The fire at 412 East 51 left a first rear apartment damaged, a civilian hurt and residents fleeing down the fire escape. Members then put the batteries in a hazardous containment drum.

โ€œThe smoke from the fire came through my apartment door. They tell you to not charge these indoors,โ€ a building resident told amNewYork Metro.

โ€œI came out of the elevator, I saw the firefighters rushing in, busting open the door and black smoke poured out,โ€ another resident said.

The fire was placed under control at 9:25 a.m. The Fire Marshals Office will determine the cause and origin of the fire.
