Gunman fatally shoots 16-year-old in Bed-Stuy

A gunman fatally shot a 16-year-old boy in Bedfordโ€“Stuyvesant on Monday evening, sending police on a widespread manhunt to find the shooter.ย 

NYPD officers responded to a 911 call about the shooting at around 5:47 p.m., and rushed to the scene at 119 Marcus Garvey Boulevard, near the intersection of Willoughby Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the teenage victim with a gunshot wound to his head.ย 

Paramedics rushed the bloodied boy to Woodhull Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.ย 

Cops are investigating a fatal shooting

Police have not yet made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.

Between New Yearโ€™s Day and June 11, when the most recent NYPD data is available, there had been 9 victims of gun violence in the 79th Police Precinct, where Mondayโ€™s shooting occurred. That marks a 52.6% decline from the 19 victims during the same timeframe last year.ย 

Citywide, there had been 483 people shot on the streets of the Five Boroughs between Jan. 1 and June 11.ย 

Cops are still looking for the person responsible for the shooting.
