A gunman fatally shot a 16-year-old boy in BedfordโStuyvesant on Monday evening, sending police on a widespread manhunt to find the shooter.ย
NYPD officers responded to a 911 call about the shooting at around 5:47 p.m., and rushed to the scene at 119 Marcus Garvey Boulevard, near the intersection of Willoughby Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the teenage victim with a gunshot wound to his head.ย
Paramedics rushed the bloodied boy to Woodhull Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.ย

Police have not yet made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
Between New Yearโs Day and June 11, when the most recent NYPD data is available, there had been 9 victims of gun violence in the 79th Police Precinct, where Mondayโs shooting occurred. That marks a 52.6% decline from the 19 victims during the same timeframe last year.ย
Citywide, there had been 483 people shot on the streets of the Five Boroughs between Jan. 1 and June 11.ย
