The NYPD is searching for a violent thief who attacked a 24-year-old man in Cypress Hills last week.
According to police, the suspect approached the victim outside a nail salon at the corner of Liberty and Autumn avenues at about 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 4. Using an “unidentified sharp object,” the robber repeatedly stabbed the victim in both arms, then unsuccessfully tried to steal his belongings.
The would-be thief ran away on Liberty Avenue toward Lincoln avenue, leaving his victim behind.
Paramedics rushed the victim, who has not been identified, to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.
Five days after the attack, cops are asking for public assistance to find the perp, who they said was approximately 30 years old and 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a gray shirt and blue sweatshirt, black and white sneakers, and a black jacket.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips on the Crime Stoppers website or on X @NYPDTips.
In the first seven days of 2024, 11 robberies have been reported in the 75th Precinct, according to police data, while 12 were reported in the first week of 2023. Over the past 28 days, the data shows, the precinct experienced 51 robberies – up 30% from the same time period last year.
